Well it was justified. It was the last AMA race for the Ducati Factory team in 2006, and the Suzuki team wanted to boycot the race. I was hanging out in the pits with the team and Bryan. So Beth and I wanted to start some shit with the Suzuki riders . Better judgement prevaled and we had a race!

Was thinking the same thing on both counts, Scout. I am a VR fanboy to the core but one race don't mean the boss is back. And Dovi and Cal brawling would be AWESOME!

i guess we will have to start wishing for rain on race days. She sure looks good in the rain ( Rossi did too ). Hopefully this is beginning of a good relationship.

So anyone else read the article in Septembers Motorcyclist magazine? Looks like 2012 superbikes will lose the l-twin and trellis frame. Looks like the gap on performance is being acknowledged and addressed.

In line 4 Ducati? 

90 v-twin rotated rearward so it can be placed further forward to improve front end grip. This will also allow for a longer swingarm to improve rear grip. New engine will boost power with cylinders 112x60.6 vs 106x67.9 of a 1198R. Cam belts replaced with chains which allows revs at almost 14,000. Whole lot of other stuff as well and all of this is already beyond my non-gear head ass anyway. It sounds bigger, better, lighter and faster. Probably more expensive too but what is money when it comes to speed?

Isn't a 90 still an "L" twin regardless of it's orientation.  I don't care what they do as long as they don't cheapen the product.

Shock orientation: Bimota used (and still uses) the same layout, something to do with how the chassis reacts to bumps while leaned over...

Swingarm: Loooooong... looks like a 58" or longer wheelbase, a la current MotoGP bikes.

Huge ram air inlets, big enough to swallow small pets, children, etc.

The under-engine exhaust is fugly... I understand the physics, but it still looks shite.  Old school likes to see the pipes....

Was hoping for a breakthrough chassis design, like Britten, but as long as they keep winning, I'm good.

Yeah, that's the same way I read it too. Several months ago in Motorcyclist Magazine, James Parker's collum which revolves around the engineering, he was already saying that's how it would most likely go. He's a smart dude, I like reading his stuff.
