Well it was justified. It was the last AMA race for the Ducati Factory team in 2006, and the Suzuki team wanted to boycot the race. I was hanging out in the pits with the team and Bryan. So Beth and I wanted to start some shit with the Suzuki riders . Better judgement prevaled and we had a race!

I would throw down with a Boz Bros. at my back..  I mean if it was justified!

Did I ever tell you guys when Ben Bostrom and I almost started a fist fight with the Suzuki riders @ MidOhio..

Was thinking the same thing on both counts, Scout. I am a VR fanboy to the core but one race don't mean the boss is back. And Dovi and Cal brawling would be AWESOME!

I bet sometime this year Dovi and Crutchlow get into a fight!  I love watching those two race.

i guess we will have to start wishing for rain on race days. She sure looks good in the rain ( Rossi did too ). Hopefully this is beginning of a good relationship.

Did Rossi cause a earthquake in Italy?

Hi all,

Finally, nearly 2 years after starting the project to have a custom track bike with all the good bits of my 749 and some bits I just was really wanting (greed most probably had a lot to do with this  Grin  ). My bike now works, and boy does it work well!

Most of the build was done by my friend, Ricardo. If it wasn't for him the bike would still be in a million pieces. Thank you Ricardo.

I went up to Alcarras (Catalunya, Northern Spain) for a track day, initially I was only going to take some learners around and then call it a day as the weather wasnt very good first thing in the morning. However, the sun came out (the weather forecast promised rain) and I decided to really try the bike out. I grinded a hole into the bellypan, that exhaust is a bit too wide me thinks.

Spec:
Bodywork - Radical Ducati RAD fibreglass => carbon & kevlar reenforced
Tank - Stock Ducati 749
Paint - Speed Designs (Big thanks to Paolo for the awesome paintjob)

Chassis - 999S (adjustable)
Subframe - Aluminum
Forks & Clamps - Stock Showa USD (love them)
Front Wheel - Braking Forged Aluminum

Front Brake Rotors - Braking Wave
Front Brake Calipers - AP Racing 6 pot
Front Brake Pads - AP Racing Carbon
Front Brake Lines - Goodridge
Front Brake Master Cylinder - Brembo PR 19 x 18

Engine - Stock 749 with ported and polished cylinder heads with new belts. 40,000km
ECU - Ducati Performance (for 54mm Termignoni)
Wiring - Stock Ducati CANBUS
Exhaust - Spark Silencer with 50mm => 62mm headers. Loud but not obnoxious. Ok, it's v. loud.
Front Sprocket - 14T

Swingarm - Ducati Hypermotard
Rear Shock - BiTubo Italian SBK spec for 749R
Rear Wheel - Marchesini Forged Aluminum
Chain - Tsubaki 525pitch heavy duty
Rear Sprocket - 43T

Tires - Dunlop D211 NTEC (front => medium, rear => medium-hard)

Weight - Feels a lot lighter  [laugh]  [drool]

The bike is very very agile. We've closed the adjustable steering head, the wheels weigh pretty much 50% less. The new subframe weighs in at less that 1kg, the old one was somewhere above what felt like 10kg. Removing the front headlight assembly helped a hell of a lot too.

I still need to keep adjusting the bike. The gear lever is 1cm too short and I keep missing downshifts. I need to put on the rear brake pedal as I've started to use this a lot more. Also need to raise the rear end another 1cm. The main thing I need to improve is my riding  Smiley

I hope you like it.

Before anyone starts thinking I was on track without gloves.. I was taking the bike into my box

This R6 didn't know what blasted past  Grin

Regards,
Kurt
