Black monster, leather jacket, and full face helmet... I could see how it would be mistakable. Now if I was mistaken for him walking down the road then there would be fighting words! haha

Thanks Mario. I love the GS or at least the 200 miles that I have put on it so far. Just picked it up over the Fourth of July. That was the same weekend of my wedding so I was not able to get out on it to much. plan on going out in three weeks and hope to get some more time in the saddle and hit some good fire roads like Cottonwood pass from Breck to Crested Butte. And by the way you do not need a better paying job just a blatant disregard for responseable spending habits. . no really there is always a trade off why do you think I am selling my Monster  Cry

Dude, those Adventures are the stuff.  I went to see the theatrical release of Long Way Down last week (they only showed it for one night) and have set the DVR to record it as they play it every Sunday night at 9pm EST on Fox Reality channel.  I really dig the idea of a bike that will just about go anywhere and carry stuff like a camel.  I'd love to do some serious cross country stuff, but don't think I could do it on the Duc.  I'm only good for about 600 miles/day on it.  Like Grifo, I have to buy a new cage for the wife pretty soon as the old Volvo has lots of miles on her and uses too much gas.
Besides, I need another Duc in the stable before I defect over to BMW.

I had an '02 1150GSA - worst piece of shit I ever owned. Grossly underpowered and had problems wioth the F.I. an dcouldn't find anyone to work on it.

Rented a 1200 in San Francisco just after they came out. When loaded and two up, the only way I could pass a truck as to wait for a long downhill straight. But by myself with no luggage, it was decent.

PS - we'll be in Colorado the week of August 16-24th - look for us!

I thought about a used 1150 GSA but had heard the same thing that it was a pig. The 08 1200 has much better power. Although you are right that it could use a little more. I picked it up in Denver and took 70 out to my Place in Breckenridge. I took a detour off of 70 in Idaho Springs on 103 up to the top of Mount Evans road. This is the highest paved road in the world at 14,240 ft. The bike did great all the way up and down. Took a little getting used to how tall the bike is coming down the 6% 180 deg switchbacks in the light sleeting rain that we were having up there. Kind of felt like I was going to go OTB. After a bit I got used to it. I do not plan on doing a lot of hard core touring with the wife and gear so i am not to worried about the power although a could see that would be a problem if that was something you were going to do. Most of my riding with her will be to my friends house in Evergreen or out to Denver or Boulder. I will do some packing up the trails with some friends but it will just be 2-3 days worth of gear so not a whole lot of weight.  I will not be getting out there until late Friday the 22. I plan on being up in Michigan on the 15-17 for the Duc fest. Where will you be in CO and are you going to have your bike.

For a solo rider and some gear the 1200 should do the trick nicely. They do handle pretty well. Just not enough umphh for two up riding. Anywho....

We'll be staying Black Hawk Aug 15 and 16, then Ouray the 17and 18th before hitting Moab for a few days. Staying in Gateway on the way back, Aug 21. Wife and I will be on my ST1100 Honda.

Mount Evans last  year....
