Well it was justified. It was the last AMA race for the Ducati Factory team in 2006, and the Suzuki team wanted to boycot the race. I was hanging out in the pits with the team and Bryan. So Beth and I wanted to start some shit with the Suzuki riders . Better judgement prevaled and we had a race!

Did I ever tell you guys when Ben Bostrom and I almost started a fist fight with the Suzuki riders @ MidOhio..

Was thinking the same thing on both counts, Scout. I am a VR fanboy to the core but one race don't mean the boss is back. And Dovi and Cal brawling would be AWESOME!

I bet sometime this year Dovi and Crutchlow get into a fight!  I love watching those two race.

i guess we will have to start wishing for rain on race days. She sure looks good in the rain ( Rossi did too ). Hopefully this is beginning of a good relationship.

Want to move up from a 696, choices would be a streetfighter or a M1100 EVO.

Any thoughts, recommendations, or things to think about.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers

Somethings are better on one wheel!

You may want to search this, but I thought someone else asked a similiar question a month or two ago.

For whatever its worth I can give you my opinion.  The SF is a pretty good looking bike.  I have never ridden or sat on one so I am unsure of the ergos.  From what I have been told and read is that the motor is just killer and makes you easily forget any flaws in the bike.  One thing to consider with the SF is that this year there has been some changes to it.  Now you can get 848 or 1098 motor and  the 1098 is the same motor from the multi so that includes a wet clutch.  If you look at the previous year SF you can still get the dry clutch.  Now for the Monster,  this would be my choice.  I just like the looks of it alot better.  The motor is great and has plenty of power.  Bike is very comfortable.  I have done several 200+ mile days on it.   Just like the SF there is an endless choice of things to do.  To me this comes down to costs in the long term!  You will have maintenance, insurance, and the cost of bike.  Both bikes seem to be very reliable and I have heard very few complaints.

Good luck with your search!

I'd keep the 696 and just ride more with the money I'd not be spending, but that's me. (You asked Grin )

What are you wanting, and why?

That actually is what my plan was.  I waqs going to put on some Termis was talking with Tom (at Indy Duc) about it and just asked some questions about how it would perform after the mod.  I have read both that it is the thing to do and that well it doesn't' make much difference, but sounds cool.  So a conversation started about "someday" on another bike more powerful.

I sold all of the stuff from my cycling days and had a small chunk to put towards the exhaust and some other cosmetic stuff.  Also a new jacket that actually fits.

Then talked to Don (also at Indy Duc) and he said that he would have recommended the M1100Evo as I am a bigger guy and would not be disappointed with the extra power, which i think is like 20 more bhp.  I had expected the 696 to be a bullet as I didn't know any different.  It is a bad bike at all, I just was kind of underwhelmed.  Again nothing wrong, just had no idea what to expect.

So we talked numbers and they have a new M1100evo and a used 2010 SF.  Close enough in numbers and now I have the opportunity to make a decision.  The bike I have is fine, probably better with a few fun mods, but nothing compared to the two I mentioned.

The guys at the shop have been pretty cool to me and I want to repay their kindness with continued business.

I love the look of the Monster line, but the power of the SF is amazing.

Kind of wanted folks who have been in the game longer to express their opinions possibly having had experience with both.  Anyway like I said just an opportunity to move into something else.  People keep talking about what a great bike the SF would be on track days, but at this point in the game I am not terribly interested in that.  I just want to take longer rides, head to fun areas.  Not worried about track time.

Cheers

If you don't mind spending the extra $ in maintenance go with the 1098 SF. You wont regret it, or buy that used S4Rs on the floor with full Termi

Money in maintenance due to miles on the bike and no warranty, or do they typically have issues?

Miles on the bike 4 valve are more expensive to service.

Just curious but what is the price of a 15k service on a 4V Ducati?

I think a good part of me agrees with sTD that I just hang onto the bike.  I really dig the M1100 EVO and that might be the better option as I just think the SF is too much bike for a beginner like myself.

Thanks for the help.

When did sTD become so wise, or have I been missing it this whole time?

Mario I paid $800 for a 7500 service w/ belts on a 2v!  I am assuming your 22k is just valves?

On the street, snap is better than power IMO, and the M1100 fits that bill nicely.  IMO, the 4V's are overkill for the street, and just empty your wallet faster.....
