Black monster, leather jacket, and full face helmet... I could see how it would be mistakable. Now if I was mistaken for him walking down the road then there would be fighting words! haha

Hey John you'll find that you can attach pics right in a post. You probably have to post at least 5 times before you can. This keeps spammers uninterested.
You can also post them to other sites and link tho them here using [ img ] tags. If you need more info just say so

Hello, ricky racer here. My name is Rick and I live just south of Buchanan, MI. My current street bike is a Mandarin '99 BMW R1100S. It's pretty stock with Remus cans on it. My back ground is mainly off-road having raced motocross, enduros, hare scrambles and observed trials. My first race was in 1974 and last race (but this could change) was in 2006.
Thanks for letting me hang out here.

My name is Shawn C. from Bloomington, Indiana. I'm new to all the groups and forums so please excuse my ignorance. I've been riding steet bikes for 20yrs and have just now purchased a ducati, which I've always wanted. I'm riding a 2001 996 monoposto. Obviously bought it used, but it was meticulously taken care of and only had 3800mi so I was pretty happy about the purchase. I joined the club because a I want to ride with others that have a true passion for motorcylces and as I've found out about owning a ducati, a passion for working on them as well. I plan on going to the race tommorrow and would like to now where I could meet up with some local riders that are club members. Please respond with any helpfull information about this website and it's bennefits, also what's the schedule for tommorrows MotoGP race.

Wecome, Shaun!
All the MotoGP info is in the "Events & Rides" forum. There's a whole bunch of Ducati stuff in the infield of the track, just head there. I dunno if anyone's riding up from B-town, but I'd bet you could link with people that were riding back down after the race if you visit the tents.
If you catch this message before tonight, lots of people will be out in downtown Indy (massive bike night event w. streets blocked off), at the Indy Mile at the State Fairgrounds, and afterwards drinking responsibly at Landshark's in Broad Ripple.

I'm Craig and I own Precision Motorcycle Painting and Restoration in South Bend. I am doing what I enjoy, restoring memories
and meeting some great people. I currently have a 2008 Royal Enfield and am working on my next bike. I met Mike (Toaster tank) while he was doing a VIN check. Hope to meet all of you soon.

Ryan,
Avon, IN
My first bike was a 01 Monster 900 S4 Dark and have loved Ducatis' ever since. After several months of 45min commutes and early morning high speed runabouts in the Catskills with Hayabusa and Gixer craizies the wind and lack of gusto proved too much. The next was a 998 Dark ordered straight from Italy (professional connection with Texas-Pacific), I have always wondered what happened to this bike as it was totalled in 2003 but was not in too bad of shape and at the time was the only 998 Dark ever factory built to my knowledge? I had not ridden since until about 2 weeks ago and found a used 2010 NCR (m16 like) custom with a DD16RR motor.
I actually have a question to those who may know more about Ducati bikes, The bike does not have a coolant system i.e. radiator. I did notice the temp got abit hot riding once over 45 mins and I would like to be able to ride it for longer trips. Here lies the problem; the radiators normally used on Desmosedicis' are quite large an obtrusive and would destroy the aethetics of the bike. The plumbing connections are all there after inspection of the normal RR this weekend. I have some experience with extreme import racing and know there are some very small thin, ultra light radiators on the market. Does anyone know the actual cooling specifications/needs required by this motor and if I could use a non Ducati or even motorcycle at that to maintain the clean look of the bike? I am thinking something 18"x6" at the largest would work best as brackets to hold it would be the least of my concerns!

Hello to all of you. This is my first post and I have not yet bought a Ducati, though that will be remedied quite soon. I am trying to decide which model and which submodel to buy. I attended the Moto GP race on Sunday and I really fell for the Monster. I haven't ridden a motorcycle for quite some time and I want to get back into it. Any recommendations as to which years are best and which models are best would be appreciated.

I started off on a 2003 Monster 620 and quickly swapped it out for a 2004 Monster 1000S. For me the big draw was the dry clutch and the engine (which ran at lower rpms at highway speed so was less buzzy).
Personally, if I was shopping for a bike now, I'd look for exactly what I have. I know some of the newer S2R, S4R type Monsters with the old style shaped tank have been having problems with the plastic tank expanding over time and not sitting properly on the frame.... I don't know if it's a really wide spread problem but personally know a few people that have had theirs replaced because it was so deformed.
Style wise, I prefer the last generation Monster such as mine as compared to the updated style you see on the showroom floor now, plus getting a used bike is always a better deal.
Engine size, I like the 1000DS or 900 motors. The 620 was just a bit underpowered for highway riding (at least compared to the 1000 - the 620 is fine but even at WOT it wasn't ever scary fast) I prefer the clean simple look of the air cooled motors as well but people with the watercooled superbike motors that you see in the S4, S4R, etc love the power they make. Maintanance costs are higher on the watercooled, 4 valve motors though....
Just some thoughts. I know we occassionally have members here selling used bikes and Ducati Indy has been great to all of us, so I would point you in their direction if you are looking to buy from a dealer. They often have a few used bikes around as well.....
