If anybody does you have to do hwy 119 just north of Petoski, road is called Tunnel of Trees and it is about 50 miles of curves, twists and switch backs all along the lake, way cool.

the Sunday ride thread

Bryan, could you make this a sticky? Thanks Bro
This Sunday, June 17 we are planning the ride up to Gingerman Raceway, to spectate at a STT trackday. We are meeting up at Doug's house @ 9:30 am and will be leaving at 10:00am promptly. I know Troy and Co. will be meeting us up there, then maybe riding back with us.
There will be some folks there from my other Ducati club, Ducs Unlimited, out of the Detroit area participating in this event, so lets try to make a good show of Indiana Ducatisti.
Also this is a good opportunity for anyone who's never participated in a trackday to see how it all works, and eventually get the bug to perhaps participate in these events in the future.
If anyone needs directions to Doug's place, feel free to contact me @ 574.876.7959

Had a good ride Sunday, even if it was a solo trip. Saw some old friends from Ducs Unlimited and a couple from the michigan Desmo club (Josh, Scott and another guy , I forget his name)
Josh was running in intermediate up until after the lunch break, then was approached by one of the track coaches and was told he should bump up to advanced. Well, first session in advanced that was delayed by an accident in T3 Josh was running pretty good, steadily becomming faster as the session went on, getting down into the 1:34's. That was until T4 reared its ugly head. He took a fairly nasty lowside, but got right up and was unhurt. His Leathers did their job, not even a seam blown out. The bike on the other hand, not such a pretty site. Left side plastics rashed and broken in a couple of places. Rear brake lever ripped off as well as his carbon fiber clutch cover torn of. He lost a three springs and broke tabs off of the clutch hub, as you can imagine. Lost the right rearstand spool, and broke the right rearset completely off.
Left not too long after, making sure he was okay and surveying the damage. Found myself at Barney's in St. Joe, sipping a couple of adult beverages and watching pretty bikini clad women comming in off the Lake from their boats.
Oh the misery.
Shot down to Al's place better known as the Hooligan Clubhouse (west), Sipped a couple of Steigl's then headed for home.

Man that sucks for Josh
Hopefully he didn't bend the input shaft ($$$). BTDT, and got lucky enough not to bend the shaft, which is why I run a full cover on the race bike now.
If he broke the rearset tab off the frame, I can weld it back up for him.
Did he get punted by a racer into T4?
Anyone who's raced there knows you can't give up the inside of T4 or you're screwed into T5. Basically you drift out the exit of T3, put your knee over the curb in T4, pin it at the apex, and try to hold the inside/middle line into T5, every lap. If you do the track-day rider thing and move just a little right coming out of T3, racers will try to get inside entering T4.

I don't know what damage he found after he got it home, usually there is more damage than at first or second glance. Hopefully the carbon cover cusioned the blow, enough to where the input shaft isn't destroyed. after all, it wasnt a real hard falll, kinda slow and steady, if that makes any sense.
I would be curious to know how he is doing (post crash bumps, bruises and or soreness) If any one has his contact info (phone, email etc.) and knows any more please post up.

Cool ride today guys minus the unforunate event... Ryan, Al's nephew went down on some gravel today. Road rash, pain and a trip to the ER. Ryan's friend who was following behind laid his bike down to avoid running over Ryan. He suffered some road rash as well but litterally walked away.
hopefully Al will post an update on Ryan's condition soon.
A speedy recovery to Ryan.
We rode to South Haven , St. Joseph had lunch, then we headed to the West clubhouse to watch the AMA race and Moto GP. Stoner kicked some major ASS

Hey everybody Ryan is fine nothing broke just some bad bruises and road rash. I think the next time he will have a leather jacket and gloves. For those who saw his helmet it shows the importance of those things. As all the veterans know seat time makes all the difference.

When you can walk away it's all good. Yesterday a goldwing wacked the back of a car. Broken leg. Ouch!

I need a good ride. Anyone have a pool, their calling for a high of 95 on Sunday. How about a mountain road lined with shade trees with a babbling brook waiting at the end.
