Well it was justified. It was the last AMA race for the Ducati Factory team in 2006, and the Suzuki team wanted to boycot the race. I was hanging out in the pits with the team and Bryan. So Beth and I wanted to start some shit with the Suzuki riders . Better judgement prevaled and we had a race!

Did I ever tell you guys when Ben Bostrom and I almost started a fist fight with the Suzuki riders @ MidOhio..

Was thinking the same thing on both counts, Scout. I am a VR fanboy to the core but one race don't mean the boss is back. And Dovi and Cal brawling would be AWESOME!

I bet sometime this year Dovi and Crutchlow get into a fight!  I love watching those two race.

i guess we will have to start wishing for rain on race days. She sure looks good in the rain ( Rossi did too ). Hopefully this is beginning of a good relationship.

Campus bars will be open but if you are over 22 I don't think you want to be at them.  Summer students will be there still.

Other good bar choices are Sargent Prestons or Nine Irish Brothers or The Lafayette Brewing Company.  These are popular bars for the over 30 crowd.

As for May 22nd, I'll be at a bachelor party so I'm out.  The 29th is race weekend, the Indy 500.

Yes some of the campus bars will be open but possibly not all.  Last summer both Where Else and the Yacht Club were closed and Brothers and Jake's had reduced to summer hours.  When Jake's was open they didn't always open the bottom part either.  I know Where Else is going to close sometime during the summer to do some more remodeling (buddy on my pool league team is a bartender there).  I always considered Harry's an over 30 crowd since that is where all the alumni go when in town.

There will be some students but the number is a fraction of what is there during the school year and not all of them are over 21.  Everything in that area goes to reduced summer hours or closes down.  Even the fast food restaurants that are open till 1, 2, or 3am during the school year close at 7 or 8pm the Monday after graduation.

In my opinion Preston's, Nine Irish, and LBC are great bars but i only go to Preston's and Nine Irish if I'm going to eat too.  I go to LBC if I want their beer and not something else.  I think you can get the same thing or better at Chumley's.  If you have ever been to the one in Indy at Broadripple its the same minus the pool tables.  50 plus beers on tap and over 100 bottles and what my wife says is the best mojito in town.

This is of course if people want to go to the other bars in town.  Each bar has its own little thing to call its own.  For instance the Vault is the only bar downtown with pool tables. Of course if people just want to stay at the Knickerbocker its a mute point. One other thing to remember is that the West side is smoke free.  So if you have to smoke you will have to go outside to do so.  This won't be a problem downtown.

Chumley's is cool, but that's where the old farts go... oh wait, that's ME now, f$%k.

Since it's the week after grad, I don't think I'll be able to bunk at the Sig Ep house... and I'm NOT sharing a room with Kevin or Mother; recent FB postings have me worried..................

OK so here is the "official" plan. Jeanne and I are going to ride down Friday night to visit with my cousin. The official "meet up" will be in the Holiday Inn parking lot at 1000hrs eastern time, that way the northern Hooligans don't have to leave at the "ass-crack" of morning. We will decide on the weather on Thursday. PM me if you need my cell #.

I was going to ask what the offical plan was and if anyone else is coming down on Friday night.  Also did everyone want to do a beer crawl or just hang out at the Knickerbocker?  Makes me no difference just wanted everyone else's opinion.  I have already been to them all so someone else can decide.

I like the idea of a beer crawl. But I kind of figured we would play it by ear. Forcast is good for saturday and sunday so far, thunderstorms all day friday, so we may wait till Saturday am to make the trip down.

So my plans for this weekend have changed.  My grandma passed away yesterday and the funeral is set for Saturday morning.  Unfortunately I will not be able to ride with everyone Saturday.  I am however planning to be back in Lafayette sometime Saturday afternoon so I will give someone a call to see where everyone is at Saturday evening.

Dave, I got your message, sorry to hear about your grandma.

Is anyone planning on riding on saturday (if the weather holds Angry)? If not who is gonna be around for the shenanagins?

If the weather holds off Jeanne and I are going to take a round-about route to Indy Ducati from Layfayette to check out the new Multi.

Thanks guys.  It was for the best.  She had Alzheimers and had been in a nursing home for 5 years.  The last few weeks were bad.  She had stopped eating and my dad had to go out to the nursing home almost every day.  My wife and I fortunately got to see her on mothers day weekend before she passed away.
