You know, my tires did that too, really bad on the front. I looked at it one day and the front was like 40psi. I dropped it down to 35 the last day I did at putnam and the front didn't do that. It didn't feel like it was sliding and moving around as much either when leaned over and on the gas.

Holy SHIT batman!!!!  You guys should be running 29/30 PSI front and 30/31 in the rear at most for track riding.  Otherwise you run the risk of crashing.

And Mario that is what tires should look like at the track and Gingerman is especially hard on tires because of the surface material used.

Pilot Powers should last 2-3 weekends at an Advanced pace on the front tire and maybe 2 weekends on the rear depending on the HP of the bike being run.  Longer if lap times are slower and bike is smaller.

Race tires last shorter times especially without the use of tire warmers.

To add what you said, Kevin: 29/30 is a good cold starting point, but you need to keep an eye on how much the pressures go up when hot.  More than 3psi, and you need to add a pound or two.

Gingerman is hard on bodywork too... don't ask me how I know.

I get about 3 track days (max) out of Pilot Race tires on the 996 at race pace.  I like the feel of the Dunlop 209 front much better, but they don't last as long.... I'm lucky to get 2 days out of them.

I got a track map of the changes they're doing to Gingerman this winter... I'll scan it in and post it up.

Thank you guys for the tidbits of information. And here I thought I was really doing something making my tires look like that.

Thanks bro!  I only measure when cold myself but that's just me and it should be checked your tire pressure regularly throughout the day with a gauge you can trust and the same gauge as one pound can make a difference in some situations.

Just for the record I was a Bridgestone/Michelin trackside vendor back in the racing days so I always try to help those that don't know the in's and out's of this stuff.

This will keep you safe......well at least safer than running 40 psi in them rubber donuts.

Yeah I talked for about 25 minutes with the owner on Saturday and it sounds like it's going to be pretty cool.
